Surah Al-Fatiha is the First Chapter (Surah) of Quran Shareef . Meaning of Fatiha is “The Opener”. Surah Al-Fatihah is the opener to Quran Shareef and it was revealed in Makkah (Meccan Surah). It has seven verses (Ayats) which are related to Prayer for Guidance, Lordship and Mercy of Allah.
Surah Fatihah is one of the most Important Surah of Quran Pak and it has an essential role in every Islamic Prayer (Salat, Namaz). It’s meaning is “The Opener” and it is the opener of the Quran and Namaz (one of the Most important Pillars of Islam). It is repeated in every Rakat of Namaz. It is also called Umm Al Kitab “The mother of the Book” and Umm Al Quran “The Mother of the Quran”
Ibn ‘Abbas reported that while Gabriel was sitting with the Muhammad (SAW) he heard a creaking sound above him. He lifted his head and said: As a gate opened in heaven today which had never been opened before. Then when an angel descended through it, he said: This is an angel who came down to the earth who had never come down before. He greeted and said: Rejoice in two lights given to you which have not been given to any Prophet before you: Fatiha al-Kitab and the concluding verses of Surah al-Baqara. You will never recite a letter from them for which you will not be given (a reward).
Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj, Sahih Muslim In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعٰلَمِیْنَۙ(۱) الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِۙ(۲) مٰلِكِ یَوْمِ الدِّیْنِؕ(۳) اِیَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَ اِیَّاكَ نَسْتَعِیْنُؕ(۴) اِهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِیْمَۙ(۵) صِرَاطَ الَّذِیْنَ اَنْعَمْتَ عَلَیْهِمْ غَیْرِ الْمَغْضُوْبِ عَلَیْهِمْ وَ لَا الضَّآلِّیْنَ۠(۷)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy All praise unto Allah, Lord of all the worlds. (mankind, jinn and all that exist) The Entirely Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy Master of the Day of Judgement. We worship You alone and beg You alone for help. Guide us in the straight path. The path of those whom You have favoured. Not of those who have earned Your anger and nor of those who have gone astray.
